South Africa Sept. 2009.
Greetings in the most wonderful name of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. By the Grace of God, we are again on a trip; serving His precious people here in the African continent. Earlier this year we were invited for this event, including a wedding which are to take place here in the province of Natal, South Africa. A few years back, in 2005, we had a similar celebration which took place here between a young sister from Norway and a brother from South Africa. They are now living in Norway. I have always felt it important to inspire young Christian brothers and sisters to seek among the ranks of believers, to find a good husband or wife; so they can build their family based on the principles of the Bible. Too many marriages to day don’t last very long. The reason is very often the lack of spiritual commitment, and a life based mostly on the material side of conduct and behavior.
In the years of my ministry; I have often let the young people come with us in different meetings and conventions. My intentions were to let them have a chance to experience the Lord in so many ways; that they would never let down on Him, no matter what would happen later in their lives. Off course when they travel like this, they would also meet with different young people from other parts of the world, and that can make a friendship connection; way beyond only the spiritual intentions. But when we look in the Bible, the importance of a good spiritual mate was essential for a person; in how to follow the leading of the Lord in all aspects of life.
Abraham told his servant to find a wife for Isaac; from his own ranks of family, and he went way back in the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. He did not want Isaac to have a wife; with the poor morals and conduct of the people which he saw in the area he lived in. Rebecca, Jacob’s mother; told him to go back to the same area, to find his wife; for the same reasons. I know these are old stories, but they represent a spiritual desire; and a condition, that shows what the Lord wants his children to look for.
In my own life, since I did not come from a spiritual background, did not really know what to look for. I was young, inexperienced, and I met a traditional Christian society that did not really lead people in these matters. May be I never asked the proper questions. After a stumbling period of seek and failure, I came to a Bible school one day. I walked in a room where several young people were assembled. There was a young girl sitting among them. I had never seen her in my life, but the Lord spoke into my heart and said: “There she is, that’s the one for you, and you have been looking around.” It really took the Lord to find the right one, and I have never regretted this advice and leadership ever after in my life.
When I think of all the challenges; and the work the Lord has put upon our lives, then I know how important it is to find a good partner in life; who understand spiritual walk and warfare.
Many young couples have been married through the ministry; in which the Lord has led our lives. I pray and hope for the best in their lives, that they will serve the Lord with all their hearts.
This time of celebration is a connection between The Philippines and South Africa. We have been In the Philippines many times, and one year Bro. Blake Govender and his family came to the same convention over there. It started a growing relationship between his son; Noel and a young sister; Rica in Bro. Elevera’s Church. They are now ready to make a commitment in marriage, and are going to make a living here in South Africa.
Some people may say that Marriage over the great continents could cause extra burdens on their lives. But if we; on the other hand; see the results of these natural marriages in the close neighborhood, and how they often end up shipwrecked after a short time, then these options should have every chance to success. First of all they are based on a spiritual conduct and decision. And they are asking the Lord to lead their life and to bless them in their efforts to live for Him. Then they have a spiritual group of believers; connecting in prayer for their success; in being a living example for their surroundings. This way they should have every chance to overcome the enemy who may be the ghost of divorce. And remember, we are all a target for the Devils devices. Let us enclose a circle around a young believing couple who endeavor to stand up to the world in this evil age, proclaiming the same longing for their own lives; as Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob did in their time.
